Koalas Fall to CIU

Koalas Fall to CIU

Turnovers and no sense of urgency, that was the recipe for last nights loss to Columbia International. In a game that should have been closely contested, the Koalas came out flat and found themselves in a whole immediately. The Rams opened up with two 3 pointers and a fast break lay up and had a comfortable 8-2 lead in the first two minutes of the game. The lead expanded to 22 points but the Koalas started to mount a come back mid way through the 4th quarter. Pulling within 2 points of CIU the Koalas had a chance to capture a late game lead but were unable to do so. The final score was 63-54.

The underclassmen led the way in scoring. Freshmen Ellona Moulds saw her second start in a game and was able to put up 10 points, which was matched by sophomore Jordan Morgan who came off the bench with 10 points, 3 steals and 2 rebounds. Senior Victoria Williams had 9 points, 4 assists and 1 steal.

The Koalas turned the ball over 31 times (19 in the first half). Those turnovers along with a number of fouls and missed free throws doomed the team.

With some time off, the team will have time to address all of their issues before the next game which will be home against Point University, November 26th at 5:30pm.
