Koalas Defeat Point to Earn First Win of the Green Era

Columbia, SC – The Columbia College women's basketball team outscored Point 29-15 in the third quarter, en route to defeating the Skyhawks 54-38 Saturday (Nov. 19). The win is also the first for head Coach NaJarius "JJ" Green. 

With the win, the Koalas improve to 1-3 overall and in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC). Point falls to 3-3 overall and 3-2 in the AAC.

"I am beyond thankful for this amazing group of young ladies and coaching staff," said Green.  "I can't put winning my first game into words, but I can say I wouldn'g want it with any other group...Go Koalas!"

Koala Game Highlights:

Columbia College outscored Point 29-15 in the third quarter.

The Koalas finished the game with three players in double-figures.

Carnesia Wells scored a game-high 19 points.

Aa'Breah Keitt and Renasia Jeter-McKissick each scored 10 points with seven rebounds. 

Knights Game Notes:

Mataea Boyd finished with a team-high 11 points. 

Sheyvonne Owens came off the bench to pull in a game-high 13 rebounds.

Additional Notes:

Koalas scored 12 points off 19 Skyhawks turnovers. The Koalas bench outscored the Skyhawks bench 12-8.

What's Next?

Columbia College will begin a four-game road swing Tuesday, Nov. 22, at St. Andrews. The Koalas will then travel to Erskine (Nov. 29), Reinhardt (Dec. 7), and Johnson (Dec. 10).
