Koalas Fall in Penultimate Home Game, 83-72
COLUMBIA, SC- In the second to last home game for the Columbia College Women's Basketball team, the Koalas came up short against Johnson & Wales University out of Charlotte, 83-72.
Columbia now has an overall record of 10-15 with three Appalachian Athletic Conference games remaining. They will host Union in the regular season home finale on Wednesday.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The first half was back-and-forth as each team took a turn with the lead.
- Columbia led for nearly eight minutes, while JWU held it for just under seven and a half minutes.
- Columbia carried a slim 39-37 lead into halftime.
- JWU hit the floor fast and furious to start the third quarter, as they went on a quick 6-0 run to regain the lead.
- From there, the Wildcats wouldn't let go of the advantage as they carried that momentum into the fourth.
- JWU held Columbia to just 13 points in the third quarter.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Three Koala starters reached double-figures, with Leah Page scoring a team-high 16. Anaya Muhammad (15) and Tysonia Lowe (10) joined their running mate, while two reserves in Callie Hermanson and De'Asia Feaster each tallied eight.
- Columbia connected on two more three-pointers (9) than JWU, but the Wildcats converted 41% of their 80 field goals, while the Koalas hit 39% of their 66 shots.

Union will travel to Porter Gym on Wednesday night for Senior Night and the final home game of the 2023-24 season.
