JDL New Year College Kick-Off

Winston-Salem, NC - The Koalas traveled to JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, NC on Sunday to compete in their 2nd indoor track meet of the season. The Koalas did extremely well in this non-scoring meet by breaking 5 school records.

First-year student Kelsey White-Kennedy, broke school records in the 200m dash and the 400m dash running 27.73 and 1:05.15, respectively. Sophomore Aleah Haltiwanger, shattered the existing triple jump school record with a jump of 10.45 meters. Aleah would finish 2nd in the event. Sophomore Iris Duke, broke her own school record in the shot put, improving her previous mark to 10.67 meters. Irish finished 7th in the event.

First-year Elizabeth Chrisley, set a new school record in her debut in the 3000m racewalk. She clocked a time of 27:10.32 and finished 1st place among collegiate runners. Her teammate, Iris Duke, was the 2nd college runner to finish the race in 28:01.44. Sophomore Alyssa Waibel, had a great race in the the 3000m run, finishing 4th with a time of 11:49.68. Senior Yasmine Keeley, finished 3rd in the long jump and 4th in the triple jump, with jumps of 4.97m and 10.04m, respectively. First-year Amber Boyd, finished 4th in the high jump with a jump of 1.51m just missing her own school record by 2 centimeters.

Senior Amber Waynick, junior Kaela Hill, and first-year Morgan Brown, all made it into the finals of the weigh throw event, finishing 6th, 7th, and 8th place, respectively.




The Koalas will return to JDL Fast Track on January 20th for the Wake Forest Invitational.
