Brickley and Anderson Recognized by the AAC

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Appalachian Athletic Conference recognized two Columbia College volleyball players for their excellent level of play this past week.  Freshman Caitlin Brickley was named the AAC hitter of the week, as well as sophomore Jacqui Anderson being named the AAC setter of the week.

Brickley posted impressive double digit kills in three matches played against Southern Wesleyan University, North Greenville University and Emmanuel College.  Brickley finished the week with 36 kills and a .438 hitting percentage.  Anderson averaged over 10 assists per set over four matches played.  She recorded a season high 48 assists in a five set winner over Emmanuel College.

Head coach Brian Solomon said, "Jacqui and Caitlin were two of many players who excelled this week.  I am very pleased for them to be recognized by the conference and look forward to seeing them succeed as the season moves forward."

Brickley and Anderson helped lead the Fighting Koalas to a 4-1 record this past week and will hope to take the momentum into this week's matches.  The volleyball team travels to take on Brenau University Wednesday before starting conference play next weekend.  The Fighting Koalas will stay on the road to take on Virginia Intermont College Friday at 7 p.m. before challenging preseason favorite Milligan College, Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
