Softball's Season Comes to an End in loss to Bryan
KINGSPORT, TN - The 9th seeded Columbia College softball team saw their 2025 season come to an end on Wednesday afternoon as they fell 6-1 to #2 seed Bryan College in an AAC Tournament elimination game from the Brickyard Ball Fields in Kingsport at the WinWon Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament in Northeast Tennessee.
The Koalas could only muster 4 hits and one run against Bryan pitching on the day as infielders Ashlynn Wolff, freshman 2B Maggie Hinz, and senior 1B and second team All-AAC Aliyah Crawley each recorded hits while junior pitcher Ally Boyd also knocked a single. Boyd finishes the season leading the team offensively in doubles with 12, homers with 3, RBIs with 36 and in batting average at .356. Crawley and Hinz led with 51 hits while Wolff had 11 stolen bases and 38 runs scored.
Starting pitcher Boyd tossed just 1 and 2/3 innings allowing 4 runs on 5 hits with a walk while senior reliever Kynsly Gehling threw 3 and 2/3 innings allowing 2 runs on 6 hits with two walks. Fellow reliever Bailey Strickland finished out the game notching one scoreless inning allowing a hit and a walk.
Bryan climbed out to a 4-0 lead after two innings while CC got on the board in the 4th as Hinz scored on a wild pitch, but the Koalas could not push across any more runs. The Lions added another run in the 4th and the 6th for the 6-1 win. Bryan (29-13) now advances to another eliminaiton game on Thursday against No. 6 Tenn. Wesleyan. Columbia finishes their season with a 20-31 record.
