Bio

Dr. Cornell Sneed is in his first season as an assistant track and field coach at Columbia College (SC). Sneed works with the Koalas throwers (shot-put, discus, weight throw, hammer, and javelin).  

Sneed comes to Columbia College after coaching at King University and Loyola University of New Orleans. During those coaching stints, he coached his throwers to a combined ten school records, five conference records, 31 conference medals (12 gold medals), four Field Athlete of the Year Selections, one Freshman Field Athlete of the Year Selection, 28 All-Conference Selections, seven All-Southeast Region selections, two national qualifiers, and three conference championships.

Sneed, a native of Miami, Florida, was a seven-time All-Atlantic Sun Conference thrower at East Tennessee State University. He earned medals in the discus, shot put, weight throw, and hammer. Sneed held ETSU's discus record and ranked top five all-time in school history in the shot-put, weight throw, and hammer. He also ranked fourth and seventh all-time in conference history in the discus and shot put, respectfully.

Sneed was a member of two indoor and two outdoor Atlantic Sun Conference Track and Field championships. As the captain his senior year, he led the team in points scored during the Buccaneers' Atlantic Sun Outdoor Track and Field Championship title in 2012.

Academically, Sneed was an eight-time Buccaneer Honor Roll and five-time Dean's List honoree, awarded the Men's Track and Field Academic MVP, named to multiple all-academic conference teams, and won the Atlantic Sun Commissioner's, Scholar Medal. Sneed went on to earn three degrees from ETSU, including his doctorate in Global Sport Leadership in 2018, and one from Kansas State University. Sneed is currently a USATF Certified Level 1 Coach and is working toward obtaining his Level 2 Certification.
