Day Off Policy 2023

Columbia College

Day Off Policy

In accordance with the NAIA Day Off Policy, Columbia College Student-Athletes are entitled to a weekly day off from all activities associated with athletic participation, from Monday to Sunday. The responsibility of determining the specific day each week rests with the Head Coaches. During the designated day off, student-athletes are prohibited from participating in any athletic-related activities except for medical assessments or treatment provided by the Athletic Trainer. The activities that are prohibited include weights/conditioning, film study, athletic meetings, study hall, and athletics-related travel.

The purpose of this day off is to enable student-athletes to recuperate physically and mentally from the demands of athletic participation and to prioritize academic and general student activities. Coaches are not required to provide an additional day off if mandatory days off already exist within the institution, such as weather, holidays, exams, or reading days.
