Johnson City, TN (Sept. 27-28) – Brandon Griffin and Blake Vaughn are the first two players to compete in the Inaugural Season of the Columbia College (SC) men's golf team.  Griffin and Vaughn competed as individuals at the East Tennessee Collegiate Classic.

The tournament, hosted by Milligan University, was contested Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 27-28, at the Johnson City Country Club in Johnson City, TN.

Griffin, a junior from Sumter, SC (USC Sumter), finished tied for 34th with a two-round score of 160 (79-81)

Vaughn, a freshman from West Columbia, SC (Airport High School), shot a combined 166 (82- 84) in his first collegiate meet.

"We competed as individuals, and Brandon Griffin, who will have the top score in the first-ever round listed at Columbia College, had a good first round," said head coach Tom Mason. "He played very steadily through both rounds.

"Blake Vaughn showed promise, and we are looking forward to what he will bring throughout the season."

Columbia College will return to the greens next Monday-Tuesday, Oct. 4-5, when they travel to Laurinburg, NC, to participate in St. Andrews Invitational.
