Koala Men’s Track & Field Has Solid Showing in Inaugural Meet

The Lead: In its Inaugural Meet, the Columbia College (SC) men's track and field team had four athletes to qualify for the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Indoor Track and Field Championships scheduled for February 17-19.  The Koala men also had several Top-10 finishers in the first meet of the program.

Columbia College competed at the Bast Cregger Invitational hosted by Roanoke College last weekend.  The two-day Bast Cregger meet took place on Friday afternoon (Dec. 3) and all-day Saturday (Dec. 4) with over 45 individual and relay events. 

Bast Cregger Highlights:

  • AAC Indoor Track & Field Qualifiers
    • Marcus Wilburn: 200 meters (22:55)
    • Trenoyne Green: 60 meters dash (7:27)
    • Rhyan Reinsel: 60 meters (7:31) and 400 meters (53:82)
    • Richard Boatwright: 60-meter hurdles (9:29)

Top 10 Finishers:

  • 200 Meters: 4th Marcus Wilburn (22.55)
  • 400 Meters: 9th Rhyan Reinsel (52.82)
  • 500 Meters: 10th Xavier Linen (1:17.93
  • 1000 Meters: 3rd Robert Robbins (2:50.23); 4th Austin Bonds (2:55.62)
  • Shot Put: 12th Gavin Rice (11.10 m)
  • Weight Throw: Jerrod Edwards (9.98 m)

What's Next: The Koalas will take a break for the Holiday and return to action the weekend of January 14-15, when they participate in the Gamecock Open hosted by the University of South Carolina.
