Koala Men’s Track Compete at First AAC Championship
Winston-Salem, NC — For the first time ever, the Columbia College men's track and field teams will participate in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Indoor Track and Field Championships. The meet is scheduled to begin Thursday at 6 p.m. and conclude on Friday afternoon at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C.

With Columbia College adding men's sports last Fall, this will be the first opportunity for the Koalas to showcase their skills in the championships.
"The coaching staff has prepared the team to be competitive over the next two days," said head coach Eric N'Dri. "We have not set expectations too high for this first year, but we are expecting some good results from some key athletes."
Rhyan Reinsel has paced the Columbia College men's team all season. Reinsel, a 5-8, 140, freshman, sprinter hailing from Chapin, SC, qualified for the AAC Championships in three individual events, 60 meters, 200 meters, and 400 meters. He will also compete as part of the 4x400 meter qualifying team.
Coach N'Dri, feels Reinsel's best chance of reaching the podium is in the 200-meters.
"Rhyan is an uprising freshman who could dominate in 200m AAC Championship this week," said N'Dri.
Gavin Rice is the top qualifier in the field for the Koalas.
He has qualified for the championships in the shot put and the weight throw.
The Koalas had nine total men to qualify for individual events and two relay teams.
