Multiple Records Fall in Koalas Second Trip to the AAC Outdoor Championship

MONTREAT, NC- Men's Track and Field competed in its second Appalachian Athletic Conference Championship on Friday and Saturday, hosted by the Montreat College Cavaliers.

14 Koalas represented the men's program, competing in many individual and team events.

The 4x800m team of Dorde Racic, Patrick Timmerman, Austin Major, and Kaden Reeder highlighted the weekend by setting a new school record of 8:21.87 on Friday. Freshman Caleb Bailey also set a new school record in the high jump, finishing 8th at 1.76m (5'9.25); he also competed in the long jump, placing 8th with a 6.52m (21'4.75) mark. Fellow freshman Cartrell Patterson finished just behind Bailey with a best of 1.71m (5'7.25).

Day one also saw Sophomore Xavier Linen run a personal best of 52.01 in the 400m race while Reeder and Timmerman took 10th and 11th, respectively, in the 10,000m event. The Koalas also saw solid finishes in the throwing events, with Daylon McDonald claiming 9th in the hammer with a distance of 37.64m (123'6"), while teammate Gavin Rice placed 15th at 30.86m (101'3").

Day two saw more records fall in the field and on the track. Linen set a new school record in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:00.94, good enough for 4th place. Freshman Austin Major was just behind his teammate, placing 5th with a time of 1:01.10.

In the field, Geonathan Tobias set a new school outdoor record in the shot put with a distance of 12.38m (40'7.5").
