Men's Sprinters Post Solid Results at High Point Meet

HIGH POINT, N.C. - The Columbia College men's track and field team competed at Div. I High Point's VertKlasse Meet over the weekend in North Carolina.

In the mixed gender 5K race on Saturday afternoon, placing for the men in the Race Walk were junior Dorde Racic in 5th in 27:01 and freshman William Bull in 7th with a time of 31:02. Bull also raced in the 1500 meters on Friday and placed 97th overall in the huge field with a time of 5:03 while he was 37th among D-2, D-3, and NAIA schools. Bull finally raced in the 3000 meter Steeplechase finishing 28th in 11:49.

The men then competed in the 4x400 meter relay late Saturday and placed 5th overall out of 8 teams in a season-best time of 3:26.7 and included

In the shot put on Saturday morning, sophomore Geo Tobias placed 29th out of 40 with a throw of 12.5 meters (41 ft) while junior Daylon McDonald was 33rd in the Discus in 32.3 meters (106 ft).

Then, in the 100 meters on Saturday morning, junior Jaden Watt-Martin led the Koalas by placing 40th out of 87 sprinters with a time of 11.26 seconds. In the 200 meters on Saturday afternoon, freshman Bradley Tilby placed 24th out of 100 in a time of 22.4 seconds while freshman temmate Willy Calcano was 66th in 23.18 seconds.

In the 400 meters, sophomore Caleb Bailey led the way with an impressive 14th place finish out of 53 in a time of 51 seconds and was 5th among D-2, D-3 schools.  Freshman Christian Harris also placed 38th in the 400 in 52.9 seconds while junior Xavier Linen was 43rd in 53.7 seconds.

Freshman Deshawn Mungo then placed 14th in the 110 meter Hurdles in 16.1 seconds while the Koalas dominated in the 400 meter Hurdles placing two men in the top four. Mungo was 4th in 58.5 seconds while freshman Kimarje White was 2nd in a personal-best time of 57.3 seconds.

The Koalas will next be competing this weekend in the Berry College Field Day Invitational in Rome, Ga.
