Bailey Sets 400 M School Record at Electric City Invite

ANDERSON, S.C. - The Columbia College men's & women's track and field teams competed at the Div. II Electric City Invitational in Anderson, SC last weekend at Anderson University.

In the men's field events, the Koalas had three men compete in the Hammer Throw with junior Gavin Rice leading the way placing 12th with a season-best throw of 37.9 meters.  Freshman Jarek Asencio  then led the Koalas in the Javelin Throw placing 12th out of 23 with a mark of 41.9 meters. 

In the Discus Throw, freshman Jonathan Davis led the Koalas placing 10th of 26 with a mark of 37.6 meters while Marabella and Rice were 21st and 22nd throwing personal bests of 32.5 and 31.2 meters.

Finally, in the men's  Shot Put, the Koalas had Davis coming in 14th throwing 10.85 meters while Ben Marabella threw 10.1 meters.

For the jumping events, Columbia was led by Watt-Martin  in the Long Jump  placing 7th with a mark of 6.34 meters while freshman Tyler Dixon was right behind in 11th at 6.03 meters.  In the triple jump, Dixon landed a mark of 11.98 meters to come in 12th place in the all D-2 field.

In the Sprints, junior Jaden Watt-Martin  placed 9th out of 36 in a personal record 11 seconds in the 100 meters while Zamir Brothers  was 24th in 11.4 seconds.  

In the  400 meters, sophomore  Caleb Bailey set a new school record in the 400m outdoor season placing 4th out of 46 with a time of 49.4 seconds while junior Kimarje White was 7th in 49.77 seconds for his personal best time as well.  

In the Mile run, junior Patrick Timmerman paced the Koalas placing 13th in 4:49 while freshman Evan McLeod was 21st in 17:56 in the 5000 meter race. Junior Dorde Racic was also 3rd in the 5000 meter race walk in a season best 26:53.

Watt-Martin then led the Koalas in the 200 meters running a time of 22.6 seconds to place 12th out of 57 while Bailey then came in right behind in 13th in a time of 22.7 seconds.  

 
 
 
 

 

The Koalas are next traveling to nearby CIU to compete at the AAC Track & Field Championship this weekend April 18-20th
