The Columbia College (SC) softball team had a successful opening day, winning both games of the doubleheader with USC Sumter, defeating the Fireants 15-0 and 14-2.
The Koalas finished the doubleheader with 30 hits while allowing only seven.
Opening Weekend Highlights:
Game 1
- Alyssa Diaz led the Koalas, going 2-for-3 including a triple
- Kristin Wemes went 3-for-3 with 3 RBIs
- Gabby Lawrence went three innings with no runs and one hit to pick up the win in game one.
Game 2
- The Koalas had three players to go 3-for-4 in the game two.
- Kiley Bridgmon, Paige Branham, and Diaz all knocked out three hits in the contest.
- Madison Hearn went 2-for-3 with 3 RBIs
- Dacie Smith had a double and 3 RBIs in the contest
- Elizabeth Stroud, the winner of game 2, went two innings, with no hits and a walk
