Koalas Softball Split with #20 Milligan

Columbia College fell 0-9 in game one and won game two 6-2 to secure the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC road doubleheader split with 20th ranked Milligan University.

After being held to one hit in game one, Columbia College (10-8, 4-6 AAC) finished with 10 hits in game two.

The Koalas' defense was equally as strong in game two behind the stellar work on the mound by pitcher Meghan Dennis.

Dennis pitched all seven innings, allowing two hits and two earned runs with three strikeouts.

Kristen Wemes led the Koalas in game two with four hits, including a double and three runs. Kylie Smith contributed two hits along with three RBIs.

Kinsley Goza, Kiley Bridgmon, and Alyssa Diaz all had one run in the victory.

Hanna Taylor and McCoy Hensley had one run apiece for Milligan (15-6, 10-4 AAC), and Cloee-Anna Merritt went five innings, allowing five runs (4 earned) with one walk was the losing pitcher of record in game two.

Wemes had the lone hit for Columbia College in the opening game. Kylie was the losing pitcher of record.

Hensley and Katie Cronin had multiple runs for Milligan, and Erin Forgety picked up the game one win.

The Koalas will return to action Wednesday, Mar. 23, when they travel down the road to face CIU in an AAC contest.
