Koalas Come Up Short at Union

Barbourville, KY- In the second of three road doubleheaders this week, the Koalas found themselves on the short end of the scoreboard again, this time falling twice to Union College.

The losses drop the Koalas to an even 6-6 on the season and 0-4 in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) action. The Bulldogs improve to 4-7 overall, and 3-1 in AAC play with the sweep.

GAME ONE:

The Koalas jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning when shortstop Skyler Monson recorded an RBI single to left field.

Union answered in the bottom of the fourth with an RBI double by Sarah Lowe. The hosts took the lead in the same half-inning when Maycee Limbaugh brought Lowe home on an RBI single.

Union added another run in the bottom of the fifth to pull away.

GAME TWO:

Columbia jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in game two of the afternoon. Monson once again did damage at the plate, this time with a double to left-center that brought Rachel McMillan and Mary-Catherine Sanders around to score in the top of the first.

The Bulldogs kept Columbia off the scoreboard the rest of the way while adding three more runs in the bottom of the fourth to secure the win.
