Softball Drops a Pair in Georgia

CLEVELAND, GA- After Friday's home games against Tennessee Wesleyan were postponed due to weather, the Koalas hit the road to take on the Truett-McConnell Bears.

The Bears took both games, 5-0 and 4-3, improving their record to 11-3 and 4-0 in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) play. Meanwhile, the sweep drops Columbia to 7-11 and 0-8 inside AAC play.

GAME ONE:
The Bears controlled all aspects of the game, jumping out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first and holding the Koalas to just one hit the rest of the way while adding four scores in the sixth.

GAME TWO:
The second game of the day was far more competitive.

The hosts once again jumped out to an early lead, putting three on the board in the first inning,
Columbia finally brought their first run of the day around when the DP Madison Lee recorded an RBI single.

With the same 3-1 score in the top of the seventh, the Koalas put the pressure on by tying things up thanks to RBI singles from Kiley Bridgmon and Rachel McMillan.

The comeback wasn't to be, though, as the Bears would win it on a walk-off single to right field.

UP NEXT:
Columbia will return to action on Monday, welcoming Agnes Scott College to the Sutton SB Complex at 2 and 4 p.m.
