Koalas Sweep Agnes Scott

COLUMBIA, SC- Despite a chill in the air, the bats were hot for the Koalas en route to a sweep of NCAA Div. III Agnes Scott College. Columbia took game one 10-7 and then finished the day off with a five-inning run rule, 8-0.
The Koalas improve to 9-11 overall with the sweep, while the Scotties fall to 3-9.

GAME ONE:
Columbia jumped out to a big 5-0 lead in the bottom of the second, but the Scotties answered right away with three runs in their next chance to bat.

Kiley Bridgmon delivered a SAC fly in the bottom of the third to build some cushion, but the visitors once again answered, this time with four runs in the top of the fifth.

Agnes Scott held a 7-6 advantage heading to the bottom of the sixth.

In that half-inning, Madison Wadford started the scoring with a solo home run to tie the game. Later in the inning, Rachel McMillan delivered an RBI single, and then Kylie Smith scored on a wild pitch to help extend the Koala's lead to 10-7.

Paige Branham, who went the final two and one-third innings, sat down the Scotties in order in the top of the seventh to earn her first win of the season.

GAME TWO:
After a scoreless first inning, the Koalas found a groove when Madison Hearn launched a ball over the wall in left field. Columbia knocked in two runs in the second, two in the third, one in the fourth, and three in the fifth.

Due to the eight-after-five rule, the game ended there.

Brooklyn Franco, Hope Azurdia (2), Madison Lee, Kiley Bridgmon, Madison Hearn (2), and Katie Poole recorded RBIs.
