Koalas Pull Off Back to Back Conference Wins

Koalas Pull Off Back to Back Conference Wins

And with that, the season is starting to turn around quickly as the Koalas collect their second win in a row. Although the team still remains at the lower end of the conference standings, they still have enough games left on the schedule to make a run for the post season tournament.

Despite it being a close game from the start, the Koalas were able to come away with a 67-60 road win over the Point University Skyhawks. This was a big conference win over a team that is highly ranked, and it was clear to see that it took a colaborative effort. Coming in with another big double-double game was junior Denijah Johnson. She finished with 16 points, 15 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 1 steal. This is her third double-double in a row. Her consecutive stellar performances earned her the AAC Player of the Week Award. Bringing another big game in only her second start of the season was sophomore Jaida Hawes, who finished with 18 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals. Again, her clutch freethrow shooting put the final nails in the coffin and sealed the victory. Rounding out the top scorers was senior Jenesai Mohammed, who contributed 22 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 steals off hot shooting from the outside.

Other contirbuters included junior Hanna Kinard, senior Morgan Varn, and freshmen Ellona Moulds and Mary Wimberly.

The Koalas travel to Tennessee Wesleyan University tomorrow for a re-match with the Bulldogs. Tip off is at 5:30 PM. Saturday, the Koalas will return home for another AAC matchup against the Brenau Tigers. That game will begin at 2 PM.
