Koalas Unable To Hold Onto Lead Late

With two minutes left in the fourth quarter, the Koalas were in the driver seat with a 4 point cushion (55-51) after sophomore Jaida Hawes hit a clutch corner 3 pointer. Two free throws and a turnover later the koalas found themselves in a tie with a little over a minute and 30 seconds remaining. After a time out the Skyhawks of point drew up a play that would allow them to take the lead late. With 6 seconds left, Coach Black called a timeout to come up with a play to tie or win the game. After deliberation the Koalas came out, inbounded the ball to senior Victoria Williams who was able to drive the lane and throw up a floater. The ball hit the back iron, the front iron and came off the rim as the time expired. The game ended in defeat 57-55, giving the Koalas their second straight loss.

Senior Jenesai Mohammed put together another outstanding performance, as she outscored all scorers with 18 points. Mohammed shot 50% from deep (4-8) and was 7-13 in field goals. Jenesai also had 3 rebounds, 4 assists and a steal. Along with Mohammed was junior Denijah Johnson who recorded another double-double with 12 rebounds and 10 points. Junior Hanna Kinard and Victoria Williams both had 8 points. Jaida Hawes had her best game of the season with 9 points including two 3 pointers including the corner shot that game the Koalas the late lead.

Although the Koalas are on Thanksgiving break, they have a game Wednesday December 4th at St.Andrews. The game starts at 5:30pm.
