Koala Women’s Basketball Falls to Tennessee Wesleyan

Columbia, SC-- (11-11-2021) – The Columbia College women's basketball team fell to Tennessee Wesleyan University (TWU), 80-56, in a home Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) contest. The loss is the second straight conference loss for the Koalas, who are 0-3 on the season and 0-2 in the AAC. The Bulldogs picked up its third win of the season and second conference win.

LaRonda Quattlebaum led all scorers with 17 points, including connecting on 3-of-4 from three-point range. Hali Doctor was the only other Columbia College (SC) player to score in double-figures with 11. 

The Koalas had well-balanced scoring as Zhayla Adams and Carnasia Wells scored eight and seven points, respectively. 

Dynasia Jackson pulled in a game-high nine rebounds in the contest.

TWU had five players in double-figures led by Jordan Wright with 14. 

Madison McClurg scored 13, Jacelyn Stone contributed 11, while Anna Crowder and Alexis Bates added 10. 

Wright led the Bulldogs on the board with eight.

Despite the lopsided score, Columbia College outrebounded TWU 42-39, and the points off turnovers differentiated by just two (TWU 12-Columbia College 10).

Points in the paint and bench points proved to be the difference in the contest as TWU had 42 points in the paint compared to 26 for the Koalas. 

The Bulldogs bench outscored Columbia College 28-9.

The Koalas will have eight days to recover and regroup before returning to action on Saturday, Nov. 20, when they host Johnson University (Tenn.) in a 2 p.m. AAC Contest.
