Koala Women’s Basketball Return to Action at Montreat

Black Mountain, NC – The Columbia College (SC) women's basketball returns to action after eight days away from the hardwood when they travel to Black Mountain, NC, to face Montreat College in an Appalachian Athletic Conference (ACC) contest.

Tip-off is 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 17, in McAlister Gymnasium on the campus of Montreat.

Last Time Out (Nov. 11):

Columbia College (0-3, 0-2 AAC) fell Tennessee Wesleyan, 80-56 in an AAC contest in Columbia. LaRonda Quattlebaum led all scorers with 17 points, including connecting on 3-of-4 from three-point range. Hali Doctor was the only other Columbia College (SC) player to score in double-figures with 11.

The Koalas had well-balanced scoring as Zhayla Adams and Carnasia Wells scored eight and seven points, respectively. Dynasia Jackson pulled in a game-high nine rebounds in the contest.

For the game, Columbia College shot 35.5 % from the field, 31.3 % from 3-pt range, and 53.8% from behind the arc.

The Koalas, are shooting 33% from the field, 26.4% from behind the arc, and 45.2% from the charity stripe on the season.

Scouting the Cavaliers:

Montreat defeated Johnson University (Tenn.) last Saturday, 76-51, to pick up its first conference win of the season. Mariya Williams led three Cavaliers players in double-figures with 20. Williams also pulled in a team-high 10 rebounds in the win. 

Jessyka Leak and Caleigh Raby scored 18 and 15, respectively, in the win.

For the game, Montreat shot 45.3 % from the field, 41.7 % from 3-pt range, and 72.7 % from the free-throw line.

Columbia College will return home this Saturday, Nov. 20, when they host Johnson University (Tenn.) in a 2 p.m. AAC contest.
