Koalas Close Out Calendar Year with a Win Over Johnson

Columbia, SC--Shakyra Harley scored a game-high 15 points as the Columbia College women's basketball team closed out the 2022 calendar year with a 70-53 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) win over Johnson University (Tenn.). The Koalas will enter the holiday break with a 2-6 overall and 2-5 AAC record.

The Koalas finished the game with four players in double figures. Jazolyn Pendergrass and Aa'Breah Keitt finished with 12 apiece, and Carnasia Wells scored 10 points in the win. Keitt picked up her straight double-double and third double-double of the season as she pulled in a game-high 10 rebounds.

Renasia Jeter-McKissick came off the bench to contribute seven points, nine rebounds, three steals, and four blocks.

Tori Teesateskie led Johnson (3-8, 1-7 AAC) with 15 points. Taylor Carter added 13 points, and Taylor Pruitt pulled in a team-high seven rebounds.

Columbia College outrebounded Johnson (Tenn.) by two, 50-48, and scored 21 points off 22 Johnson turnovers. The Koalas outscored the Royals 30-20 in the paint. 

Columbia College will return to action on Tuesday, Jan. 3, when they host Brenau in an AAC contest.  The Koalas will play its first three-of-four games at home after the holiday break, as they host Milligan (Jan. 5) and Montreat (Jan. 11), and will travel to Barbourville, Ky., January 7 to take on Union College.
