Koalas Upset Eagles in AAC Women’s Basketball Action

Columbia, SC – Columbia College out-rebounded Reinhardt University, 50-36, en route to upsetting the Eagles 67-61 in an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) women's basketball contest in Porter Gym. Reinhardt, who lost just its second conference contest, falls to 15-5 overall and 14-2 in the AAC. The Koalas improves to 5-10 overall and 4-9 in the AAC.

Columbia College led most of the game with its largest lead of 17 at the 7:33 mark of the third quarter. Reinhardt managed to pull with three (59-62) with 3:33 remaining, but the Koalas did not ease up, scoring the last five-of-seven points to secure the win.

Aa'Breah Keitt recorded a double-double, her fifth of the season, scoring 18 points with 15 rebounds. She also rejected three shots.

Columbia College used a balanced attack, finishing with three players in double-figures.  De'Asia Feaster scored 16 points, and Carnasia Wells dropped in 15 points in the win.  Wells added eight rebounds, and Payton Brookover finished with six points and seven rebounds.

Avanna Preston led the Eagles with 18 points. Tarrah Gibson scored 10 points with eight rebounds and two blocks for Reinhardt in the loss.

The Koalas will host St. Andrews Thursday (Jan. 19) at 5:30 pm.
