Koalas Blank Knights For Fourth Conference Win

Sophomore transfer Taylor Sage scored her first two goals as a Koala and Breanna Hilton and Amorie Kostelak combined for a shutout as the Columbia College Koalas beat the St. Andrews University Knights 3-0 at Younts Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The Koalas got off to a hot start as they managed to take the lead just six minutes into the game.  Kianna Dodge did well down the sideline before finding Jordan Myers, who dropped the ball to Sage to shoot from the edge of the box and her driven shot found the top corner to make it 1-0 to Columbia.

Despite adding another ten shots in the half, the Koalas were unable to add to their lead and went into the halftime break with the precarious one goal advantage.

Two goals inside a minute put the result out of question midway through the second half as Columbia continued to pepper the Knights goal.  First, Theresa Chambers finished a rebound from Brooke Piscitello shot to make it 2-0 at the 68:00 mark.  Just 57 seconds later, a corner from Summer Dockstader was fired home from the edge of the box by Sage to make it 3-0, a result which would hold up until the end of the game for the Koalas second shutout in a row.

Columbia moves to 5-2 overall, 4-2 in the AAC with the win, and will return to action early next week when they host Carolina University in a non-conference matchup on Monday afternoon.
