Koalas Sting Yellow Jackets on Senior Night

The Columbia College Koalas celebrated their seniors Amorie Kostelak, Theresa Chambers, Nathalie Stark, and Jade Moran on Wednesday evening in a 5-0 victory over the visiting Allen University Yellow Jackets.

The Koalas started slowly before finally finding their feet about 20 minutes into the first half.  Madison Stewart's through ball found Jordan Myers, and she dribbled towards the Yellow Jackets keeper before sliding the ball inside the far post for a 1-0 lead.

Less than three minutes later, the score was 2-0, as Myers had a free kick saved but Kianna Dodge was there to poke home the rebound for her second goal of the season.

Taylor Sage added a third goal for Columbia in the 34th minute after she was found by Elizabeth Schossler just outside the box, and she fired one into the top corner for her third goal of the season.

Myers then hit double figures for the campaign just over a minute later when she drilled one into the bottom corner from twenty yards having been found by Kayann Glass.

Sixteen minutes after halftime, the Koalas added their fifth and final goal of the game when Kendall Fields was found down the right hand side by Brooke Piscitello, and her cross into the box allowed Riley Barnes to slide in and score her first goal of her career to make it 5-0.

Amorie Kostelak and Breanna Hilton combined for the shutout for the Koalas, their third shutout of the season.

Columbia will travel to Barbourville, KY on Saturday when they face the Union College Bulldogs in a crucial AAC matchup at 1PM.
