Koalas Beat Bulldogs On Road

Isabella Gurrieri scored a goal less than eight minutes into the game that turned out to be the game winner as the Columbia College Koalas took down the Union College Bulldogs 1-0 in an AAC contest on Saturday afternoon.

After a few early chances, the Koalas opened the scoring when Jordan Myers cross found Gurrieri, and her shot evaded the Bulldogs keeper to make it 1-0 to Columbia.

The first half was complete domination for the visitors, as Columbia outshot Union 9-0 but failed to add to their tally.

The second half saw Union come into the game a little more, but the Koalas were still on top and went close a few times via Adrianna Machado, Myers, and Theresa Chambers. Despite their pressure, however, Union held out strong and kept the score to the 1-0 final.

Amorie Kostelak had the shutout in goal as she made three saves, and the defensive unit including Machado, Kylie Stewart, Lakelee Aldrich, Josie Vega, Sammie McDaniel, and Kianna Dodge held the Bulldogs attackers at bay.

With the win, the Koalas move to 7-4-2 on the season and 5-4-1 in the AAC on 16 points.

Columbia will return to action on Tuesday when they face Point University at 3PM at Younts Stadium.
