COLUMBIA, SC- A quality goal from Junior Jordan Myers turned out to not quite be enough as the Columbia College Koalas fell 2-1 at home to the #22 Truett-McConnell Bears on Wednesday evening at Younts Stadium.
The Koalas went into the match knowing they'd have a tough fight on their hands with the Bears entering the game as the lone AAC representative in the NAIA Top 25. After allowing a goal in the 10th minute, Columbia settled into the game with Myers and Junior Brooke Piscitello both going close with efforts on goal.
Coming out of the break with a one goal deficit, the Koalas managed to find the equalizer in the 62nd minute. After winning possession back high up the field, Piscitello found Myers with a lay off and the reigning AAC Offensive Player of the Week did the rest as she fired home a shot from 25 yards out to make it 1-1.
Unfortunately for Columbia, they were unable to make the lead stick as the Bears regained their advantage five minutes later off of a corner, and that goal would prove to be the game winner.
Despite the loss, the Koalas battled extremely well with a nationally ranked team, with First Year Kinzly Cohen among those to put in quality performances.
Columbia returns to AAC play hosting the Milligan College Lady Buffaloes this Saturday.
