CSCAA Names NAIA Scholar All-America Teams

Colorado Springs, CO - The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) has selected a record 762 programs from 480 institutions to the Scholar All-America Team for the Fall 2019 semester. Teams were selected on the basis of their Fall 2019 grade point averages and represent 17,685 student-athletes.  The University of Saint Mary (KS) Men led with a GPA of 3.55 while SCAD Savannah topped all programs across all divisions with a 3.80.

The Appalachian Athletic Conference placed ten teams (six women's and four men's) on the honor roll while the Mid-South and Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference each produced seven honor roll teams.

Twenty-three teams, representing nineteen schools, earned Scholar All-America honors for the first time including the Youngstown State University men’s team. Last year Youngstown State became the first public Division I university to establish or resurrect men’s swimming and diving.

The top teams in the classroom were also some of the best in the water. Ninety percent of Division I and III’s top Twenty Five are represented while eighty percent of Division II schools posted a 3.0 or higher. Those teams included the top-ranked men’s teams of Texas (3.08), Indianapolis (3.24) and Denison (3.40). Also earning the honor were the top-ranked women’s programs of Michigan (3.43), and Denison (3.54).

Founded in 1922, the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA), is the nation’s first organization of college coaches. The mission of the CSCAA is to advance the sport of swimming and diving with coaches at the epicenter of leadership, advocacy, and professional development.
