Koala Tennis Teams Open Spring Season with sweep of JWU
CHARLOTTE, NC - The Columbia (SC) College men's and women's tennis teams began the Spring portion of their 2023-24 schedule with an away match against Johnson & Wales Charlotte on Feb. 15.
The Koala Men won a close decision, 5-4 while the Lady Koalas won 6-3.
Columbia's sophomore Aniya Sims and senior Mariane Lima knocked off JWU 8-1 at #1 doubles, while junior Helena Jokanovic and freshman Vienne Geren won by an 8-0 decision at #2 doubles. Columbia's top three singles players, #3 Aniya Sims, #1 Helena Jokanovic, and #2 Mariane Lima all won 6-0, 6-0 or 6-1 to clinch the match while Geren also won 6-4, 6-1 at #4 singles.
