Koalas Finish 7th at the Montreat College Invitational

The Columbia College women's track and field team continued to improve at its second outdoor meet of the season, finishing seventh at the Montreat College Invitational last Friday-Saturday, March 25-26.

Izabelle Trefts captured gold for the second straight meet in the women's 5000m Racewalk. Trefts ran a personal best and school record, 26:12.60, which currently ranks her #1 in the NAIA in that event.

Junior Makayla Hollifield also had a solid outing, finishing second in the 10000m in a time of 39:33.21. Hollifield's time qualifies her for the 2022 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships (April 22-23).

In addition to Trefts and Hollifield, top-five finishers include Victoria Heiser-Whatley and Jessica Heiser-Whatley (5000m Racewalk-Tied 4th: 28:58.80), Grace Wright (5th-400m: 1:01.42), and Darci Dawson (5th Shot Put: 10.99m).

The Koalas will return to the track Saturday, Apr. 2, when they travel to Central, SC to participate in the Southern Wesleyan University Gotta Run Invitational.
