Women's Track and Field Claims 6th at AAC Outdoor Championship

MONTREAT, NC- Women's Track and Field collected 100.83 points, finishing 6th at the Appalachian Athletic Conference Championship on Friday and Saturday, hosted by the Montreat College Cavaliers.

The Koalas saw multiple podium finishes and records broken during an intense weekend of competition.

The Koalas swept the 5000m race walk event, with NAIA Indoor National Champion Izabelle Trefts taking first while Ainhoa Colino and Victoria Heiser-Whateley claimed second and third, respectively. Trefts also set a new meet record thanks to her time of 24.47.96.

The Koalas competed well in the field as Grace Wright took second place in the high jump at 1.44m (4'8.75"). In addition, Darci Dawson earned third place in the shot put with a distance of 11.47m (37'7.25"), while Anaya Canty took second in the hammer throw at 41.85 (137' 4"). Finally, Zaida Carson claimed gold in the discus throw with her second attempt distance of 40.33m (132'4").
