Race Walkers Led Women's Track at High Point

HIGH POINT, N.C. - The Columbia College women's track and field team competed at Div. I High Point's VertKlasse Meet over the weekend in North Carolina.

The women were led by their Indoor All-American race walkers Victoria and Jessica Whatley as they finished 3rd and 4th in the Mixed Gender 5K race on Saturday afternoon. Victoria walked a time of 25:26 while Jessica was right behind in 26:09. Freshman Carly Fuel then placed 8th in 36:48 while sophomore Jenyfer Vigueras was 9th in 37:53. Also placing for the men in the Race Walk were junior Dorde Racic in 5th in 27:01 and freshman William Bull in 7th with a time of 31:02.

In the 400 meters, freshman Kayla Ferrell then placed 36th in 1:06 while fellow freshman Ashante Shaw placed an im pressive 35th out of 109 runners in the 200 meters in a time of 26.2 seconds. Shaw was 13th among D-2 and D-3 runners as well.

On Friday in the 1500 meter race, Columbia was led by freshman Addison Martin placing 58th out of 90 with a time of 5:15 while teammate, Carly Fuel, finished 70th in 5:24. Martin was 17th among D-2, D-3 and NAIA schools as well. The women's 4x100 meter relay team then finished 10th out of 14 on Saturday with a season-best time of 48.9 seconds while they were 4th among D-2 and D3 schools. The team consisted of

In the field events on Saturday, the Lady Koalas were led by freshman Makayla Blango as she placed in a tie for 22nd out of 37 in the Triple Jump with a personal-best mark of 10.7 meters (35 ft). In the Shot Put, senior Anaya Canty finished 38th (13th in D-2,3) with a season-best throw of 10.1 meters (33 ft) while freshman teammate Autumn Buzzard came in 42nd at 9.5 meters.

The women will next be competing this weekend (April 12-13) in the Berry College Field Day Invitational in Rome, Ga.
