Athletes Highlighted in Columbia College Annual Honors and Awards

Each year Columbia College honors students who have shown academic excellence throughout the school year. This semester there were a number of student athletes that received awards from first year student to seniors. Below is a list of all the awards that each student athlete received.

Women’s College Academic Honors recognition is awarded to the five Women’s College students in each class with the highest cumulative GPA at the end of the fall 2019 semester.  Each of these students have completed at least 85% of the number of semester hours required for each classification.  In the case of first year students, at least 12 semester hours had to be earned during the fall semester. 

 First Year Class: Jessica Heiser-Whatley, Mistify Honstein, Zoe Jackson, Madeline Key Ellona Moulds, Jasmine Pattschull, Sajwa Sabree, Charla Taylor, Chasmere Washington, & Amy Zhang

 Sophomore Class: Rachell Harglerode, MeKel Mock, Andrea Robichaud, Elizabeth Stroud, & Heather Woolard

 Junior Class: Caroline Cook, Makayla Davis, Nicole Halvorsen, Caitlyn Neal, &  Mackenzie Shannon

 Senior Class: Nomindari Bayaraa, Allison Cox, Ashley French, Hunter Huggins & Amber Mozie

Outstanding Art Minor: Averi Goss  This award go to the most outstanding current minor in the art program.  Each award includes consideration of the student’s academic achievements, as well as leadership in the program.

Communication Excellence Awards

Uyen (Kelly) Duong, San Holder-Booker, Breanna Leverett, Caitlyn Neal, Mackenzie Shannon, & Maya Stevenson. These awards recognize current majors in communication from the Women’s College and the Evening College. Each award includes consideration of the student’s academic achievements, as well as leadership in the program.  The senior recipient’s name will be added to a plaque housed in Communication and Leadership. 

Outstanding Student in Business Program Award:

Jameson Miles, Jenesai Mohammed, She’Nae Parker, & Megan Taylor. These awards are given to outstanding students in the business program.

Academic Excellence in Mathematics:

Nicole Halvorsen This award recognizes consistent academic excellence in the Mathematics program. 

The Larval Award for Exceptional Early Growth in Biology:

Ellona Moulds This award recognizes the first year student with exceptional performance in introductory Biology courses.

Outstanding Senior Biology Major:

Katherine Grant This award recognizes the senior Biology major who has shown a keen interest and ability in science and has exhibited the highest degree of performance in her respective classes.

The General Chemistry Award:

Rebecca Lorimer This award is given to the student with the highest overall grade in both semesters of general chemistry.

Academic Excellence in Nursing Award:

Assata Kirkley & Cassidy Jacobs This award recognizes a nursing major with a GPA greater than or equal to 3.50.

Outstanding Women’s College Psychology Major:

Charlotte Daniels & Uyen (Kelly) Duong This award is given to the graduating student who most embodies the scholarly study of Psychology through academic achievement and involvement outside the classroom.

Student Leader of the Year Award:

Hunter Huggins (Senior) & Mackenzie Shannon (Junior) The Student Leader of the Year Award recognizes a student who has made a positive impact on the Columbia College community through their leadership. Two students will be selected from each class to receive this award.
