Koala Volleyball Falls to CIU in 2021 Home Opener

Columbia, SC – The Columbia College women's volleyball team fell to cross-town rivals Columbia International University (CIU), 3-0 (25-20, 25-14, 25-19) on Thursday, Sept. 9 in Porter Gym on the campus of Columbia College.  The contest was the home and Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) opener for the Koalas.

The loss drops the Koalas to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in the AAC. With the win, the Rams improve to 5-4 overall and 1-0 in the AAC.

Freshman Jordan Coates led the Columbia College attack with six kills. She also contributed eight assists and five digs in the contest.

Senior Jalyn Pace came off the bench to put down four kills and three block assists. Senior Setter Becca Lorimer had eight assists, and freshman defensive specialist Ta'Cori Barber picked up a game-high seven digs in the loss.

CIU was led by Ingrid Ferrari, with 12 kills, while Cintia Lorena and Jadaeya Morrell had seven kills each for the Rams in the win.

The Koalas has just one day off the court before heading to Welska, Ga. to take on Reinhardt in an AAC matchup. The first serve is at 4 p.m.
