Columbia College Cross-Country Has Solid Showing at Converse

Spartanburg, SC (Sept. 18) – The Columbia College (SC) women's and men's cross-country teams had a solid showing in the Converse Kick-Off last Saturday, Sept. 18.  

The Koala women's team, which finished 16th overall, was led by Makayla Hollifield ran a 24:00.2 to finish 36th of 208 athletes. Izabelle Trefts clocked a 25:20.1, and Esther Ekundayo ran a 26:27.5 to close out the top three finishers for Columbia College. Elana Preston (28:06.7) and Ayanah Howard (29:06.6) rounded out the top five competitors for the Koalas.

Additional runners for the Koalas included: Shelby Winn (30:30.6), Ariana Pratt (32:04.9), and Jessica Heiser-Whatley (33:20.1).

Patrick Timmerman and Robert Robbins were the only two men to compete for the Columbia College men's team who were competing in just its second meet in school history. Timmerman finished the 8k course with a time of 29:56.9, and Robbins clocked a 30:34.3.

Both teams will have two weeks off from the competition before hosting the Koala XC Classic. It will be the 4th running of the Koala XC Classic for the women and the Inaugural Koala XC Classic for the men.
