Women’s Cross-Country Finish Fourth at Koala XC Classic

West Columbia, SC (Oct. 2) -- The Columbia College women's cross-country team posted its best meet of the season, placing fourth with 114 points in the 4th Running of the Koala XC Classic.  Converse took home the team title with 46 points. Makenna Pallozzi of Belmont Abbey was the top finisher for the women with a time of 23:16.5

The 6K race was contested Saturday, Oct. 2 at the Par Tee Golf Center in West Columbia, SC.

Makayla Hollifield, who finished just .8 seconds off the school record for the 6K, ran a 23:59.9, finish third to lead the Koalas. The current record, 23:59.1 was set by Hollifield's teammate Valeria Bogdanova in the 2020 Koala XC Classic.

Bogdanova also finished in the top 10, placing eighth with a time of 24:43.9. Freshman Izabelle Trefts finished in the top 20, placing 16 with a time of 25:03.5 to round out the top three finishers for Columbia College.

Junior Gabrielle Huggins ran a 26:42.2, sophomore Elana Preston clocked a 27:47.4 and senior Ayanah Howard ran a season-best 29:07.7 to close out the competitors for the Koalas.

Columbia College will return to competition, Saturday, Oct. 16, when they travel to Spartanburg, SC to participate in the USC Upstate Invite.
