Hollifield to Compete at NAIA Cross-Country Nationals
Vancouver, Wash. – Columbia College (SC) women's junior cross-country runner Makayla Hollifield will compete in the 2021 NAIA Women's Cross-Country National Championships, Friday, Nov. 19.
Hollifield led the Columbia College (SC) contingency at the 2021 AAC Cross-Country Championships, clocking a 19:35.7 to finish in 17th. The Koalas finished fourth overall.
"I am super proud of Makayla," said head coach Justin Bishop. "For a runner who came out of high school running 21:42, she's put in the hard work to get her 5k time down to 19:33."
Bishop continued, "Makayla is only the second cross-country runner in school history to qualify for the NAIA cross-country national meet twice: (Irene Requena being the first). Makayla is within striking distance of breaking the school 5k cross-country record of 19:03."
Hollifield is one of six wildcard runners from the AAC who will be competing at the NAIA Nationals.
