Koalas Women’s XC Finish 4th at The Akiah McMillan Invite

West Columbia, SC (Oct. 8) -- The Columbia College women's cross-country team scored 84 points to finish fourth at the Inaugural Akiah McMillan Invite. UNC Pembroke took home the team title with 44 points. Jakline Kosgie of UNC Pembroke was the top finisher for the women, with a time of 21:42.4.

The 6K race was contested Saturday, Oct. 8, at the Par Tee Golf Center in West Columbia, SC.

Makayla Hollifield, who ran 22:55.0, finished third to lead the Koalas. Valeria Bogdanova finished in the Top 10, placing 17th with a time of 24:22.4. Izabelle Trefts finished in the 20th with a time of 24:36.8 to round out the top three finishers for Columbia College.

The Koalas had eight competitors to compete in the meet: Gabrielle Huggins (25:15.5), Ainhoa Colina (25:35.9), Mina Shull (25:46.9), Elana Preston (26:05.1), Kayleigh Lodge (27:05.2), Jennyfer Vigueras (28:00.4), Ariana Pratt (28:35.1) and Victoria Heiser-Whatley (35:06.2).

Columbia College will return to competition Saturday, Oct. 22, when they travel to Newberry, SC, to participate in the Newberry College Invite.
