Koalas Finish 3rd at Newberry Invitational

Newberry, SC – The Koala women's cross-country team had its best showing of the season, finishing third with 85 points at the Newberry Invitational, Saturday, Oct. 22.  Columbia College finished behind Belmont Abbey College (68 points) and Truett-McConnell University (71 points).

Makayla Hollifield continued to pace Columbia College, finishing third out of 100 competitors.  Hollifield clocked her best time of the season, 18:50.8 in capturing bronze.  Angeline Kravitz finished 11th with a time of 20:07.7 and Esther Ekundayo rounded out the top three finishers, placing 23rd (20:44.6).  Valeria Bogdanova and Elana Preston finished 23rd and 26th, respectively, to close out the top five finishers for the Koalas. Bogdanova ran a 20:57.3 while Preston crossed the line at 21:17.2

Columbia College will one week to recover before hosting the 2022 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Cross-Country Championships. The race is set to begin at 9 am at the Par Tee Golf Center in West Columbia, SC.
