Koalas Fall Short Against Bluefield

Columbia, SC (12-08-21) – Wynter Webb recorded a double-double, 11 points-10 rebounds as the Columbia College (SC) women's basketball team fell to Bluefield University, 50-47, in an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) contest in Columbia.

The loss drops the Koalas to 1-8 overall and 1-7 in the AAC. The win pushes the Rams record to 4-7 overall and 4-5 in AAC play.

Carnasia Wells scored a team-high 13 points, and Hali Doctor dropped in 10 to round out the double-digit scorers for Columbia College. 

Breanna Sharpe came off the bench to score six points and tie the game-high in rebounds with 10.

Jadyn Hoover led Bluefield with 16 points, four rebounds, and four assists.

INSIDE THE GAME

  • After having a two-point lead (15-13) after the first quarter, the Koalas were outscored 8-5 in the second stanza as Bluefield took a one-point advantage into the half (21-20).
  • Bluefield shot 5-for-11 (45%) from the field and held Columbia College to 6-for-17 (35.3%) for a 15-13 third-quarter advantage to take a 36-33 lead heading into the final quarter.
  • The teams scored 14 points each in the final quarter.
