Columbia College Koalas Return to Action Versus St. Andrews

Columbia, S.C. –  The Koalas of Columbia College, who will be searching for their second win of the season, enters the second portion of their 2021-22 basketball schedule Tuesday (Jan. 4) versus St. Andrews.

The Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) contest tip-off at 5:30 p.m., at the Godbold Center on the Columbia College Campus.

The Koalas finished the first half of the season 1-9 overall and 1-8 in the AAC.

In the final game of the 2021 calendar year, Columbia College lost to Reinhardt, 91-63. The Koalas, who trailed by just five at the half (36-31), was outscored 31-12 in the third quarter for a 67-43 deficit heading into the final stanza. Reinhardt outscored Columbia College 24-20 in the fourth quarter.

Carnasia Wells and Wynter Webb scored 21 and 20 points, respectively, to lead the way offensively for the Koalas.  Webb had a well-balanced-game, finishing with 13 rebounds, to pick up her second straight double-double, along with four assists and two steals.

St. Andrews enters the contest winless at 0-11 overall and 0-10 in the AAC.  The Knights fell to Union College, 82-54, before the holiday break (Dec. 11). 

Dominique Cooke led St. Andrews was with 11 points.  Katerina Patkova added eight points and four rebounds in the loss.

On the season, Webb leads the Koalas in scoring and rebounding at 14.6 points and 6.4 rebounds per outing.  Wells is the only other Koala player averaging double figures at 13.6 per game.

Cooke is averaging 13.2 points, and Aijah Palmore is pulling in 7.7 boards per game to lead the Knights.

Columbia College will hit the road on Thursday, Jan. 6, to face point before returning home on Saturday (Jan. 8) to face Montreat in a 2 p.m. AAC contest.
