Columbia College Volleyball Falls to Brenau in Four Sets

Columbia, SC (Sept. 21) -- The Columbia College (SC) volleyball team dropped a tough four-set match Tuesday (Sept. 21), falling to Brenau 3-1 in Porter Gym.

After dropping the first set 25-12, Columbia College (1-8, 0-6 AAC), came back strong in set two.

The Koalas recorded 12 kills and hit .345 to win the second set 25-23 and even the match.

Brenau (6-8, 3-3 AAC) dominated the third set, holding Columbia College to just four kills and a .043 hitting percentage to win set three 25-12 and take a 2-1 advantage in the match.

The Golden Tigers appeared to have the match in hand, jumping out to a 4-1 lead and going up by a 12-5 margin, but the Koalas continued to fight.

Columbia College used a 7-0 run to level the score at 12-12 and eventually took its final lead late at 20-19.

Brenau closed the set on a 6-3 run to win set four 25-23 and the match 3-1.

Brhia Cummings came off the bench to lead the Koalas in kills with seven.  Brianna King contributed five kills, while Becca Lorimer and Jordan Coates put up 12 and 10 assists, respectively.  Columbia College finished the match with 12 total blocks.

Mary Ellen Enright led the Golden Tigers in kills with 15.

The Koalas will hit the road for their next six contests beginning Saturday, Sept. 25, at Point University.
