
Track and Field Opens Outdoor Season
Myrtle Beach, SC- Both track and field teams kicked off their outdoor campaign this week, heading east to participate in the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational.
The men finished the event at 27 of 30 teams, claiming five points. They were scheduled to compete at the canceled CIU Invitational.
The women earned a top-20 finish, 18th, while Duke claimed the top spot with 247 points.
The Race Walk team also picked up where they left off during the indoor season, competing at the Anderson University Trojan Opener.
3000m Indoor Race Walk National Champion Izabelle Trefts set a new school record in the 5000m event with a time of 24:49. Ainhoa Colino, Jessica Heiser-Whatley, and Victoria Heiser-Whatley also recorded qualifying times for NAIA outdoor track nationals.
The Men's Race Walk team also had a record-setting day, with Kristian Sanchez setting a school record of 34:39, while Chris Black recorded a PR in his first 5000m race.
