Cheer Returner Tryouts to be held Sept. 7
COLUMBIA, S.C. - The brand new Columbia College Cheer team is being led by coach Holly Sawyers. Tryout info is below:
*We are also still looking for any remaining 2024 class of students who have not fully committed to college to submit a video as well!!
Returning Students-Cheerleading Tryouts
Cheerleading tryouts for Returning Students: 9/7/2024 from 1-4pm, in Godbold.
We are looking for returning students who have cheerleading/tumbling/dance experience and school spirit!
*Skills and Overall appeal we are going to be looking for:
-College Spirit (smile, energy, positivity, good sportsmanship, etc.)
-Collegiate Appearance (clean ponytail/half-up half-down, CC Colors, game day makeup, etc.)
-Attitude (team player, commitment)
-GPA (High school GPA and any previous College GPA, standard requirement for Athletes)
-Skills: (Standing and Running Tumbling, Jumps and jump sequence, Stunts)
-Chants: (Sharpness, voice, motions/ technique, memorization, crowd appeal, etc.)
-Athleticism: Stamina, strength, energy, etc.
*If NEW INCOMING students are submitting a virtual tryout video:
**ALL previously recorded Tumbling, Jumps, Stunts filmed MUST BE less than 1 year old.
Showcase these items:
1) Any Standing Tumbling (ex. back handspring, back tuck, or series of standing tumbling skills)
2) Any running Tumbling (ex. Round Off Back handspring, Round off Tuck, Round Off Back handspring series, Skills past a tuck or back handspring)
3) Jumps: A toe touch, and a series of 2 consecutive jumps (ex- double toe, toe-pike, toe- hurdler, etc.)
4) Stunts -- please indicate your position and submit a clip that shows your skills, technique, form, and crowd appeal.
5) Chants- Please select one of the Chants provided in the application/follow up emails/links. Preform the chant 3 times through.
6) Apparel- Please be in form fitting attire (tank top/shorts) and CC colors. Have hair either in a clean ponytail or half-up/half-down with a Ribbon of CC Colors.
7) Video Submissions cannot be longer than 5 minutes.
