COLUMBIA, SC - The Columbia College inaugural men's basketball team is off to a 2-0 start to begin the season as they defeated Bob Jones University 74-55 at home Saturday afternoon.
Sophomore shooting guard Austin Harrell led the Koalas with 22 points on 8 of 13 shooting off the bench while going an impressive 6 of 10 from three-point range along with 2 assists and a steal.
The Koalas got off to a terrific start leading 24-4 in the first 12 minutes before heading into the halftime break up 34-16. The Bruins would crawl to within 8 points at 39-31, but could get no closer the rest of the way. The men shot 49 percent from the floor overall and 46 percent from three as junior wing Thomas Whitley also played well tallying 13 points and three 3s on 5 of 7 shooting.
Fellow junior forward Chandler O'Bannon also played well scoring 16 points with a team-best 9 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. Senior guard Kendall Brasfield was then the final member to score in double figures with 11 points and 3 steals.
The Koalas will remain home as they next host Carolina University (NC) on Wednesday at 7:30 pm.
