Men's Golf Opens Fall Season in Georgia

WAVERLY, GA- The Columbia College Men's Golf team kicked off the fall season on Monday and Tuesday as the Koalas competed against 14 schools at the Coastal Georgia Fall Invite, hosted at Sanctuary Cove Golf Club in Georgia. This par 72 course plays 7,177 yards. Columbia finished 14th on the week out of 15 schools.

Sophomore Blake Vaughn was the top finisher for the Koalas, missing a top-50 finish by just one stroke as he placed 51st and shot rounds of 76, 78, and 78 for a 232 and 16 over par. Freshman Ryan Lord placed 70th with rounds of 77, 82, and 85 for a 244 and 28 over par.

Senior Brandon Griffin finished 73rd by shooting rounds of 84, 81, and 84 for a 249 and 33 shots over par. Junior Jacob Fink finished 78th overall with rounds of 89, 81, and 87 to finish 41 over par.

"I'm pleased with the boy's effort," said head coach Tom Mason. "Blake played well for his first rounds of the year. I thought Ryan played great for his first collegiate rounds. I'm excited for the year ahead." 

The Koalas will be back in action next Monday and Tuesday when they head to the Fincastle Intercollegiate, hosted by Bluefield.
