Columbia Men Finish Fall Season in Blythewood

BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. - The Columbia College men's golf team competed in the AAC Fall Preview Tournament on Oct. 16-17 at the Windermere GC outside of Columbia.

Columbia finished in 15th place after shooting rounds of 334, 319 and 342. Columbia actually was in 14th on Tuesday morning before the final round.

Leading the men were freshman Ryan Lord and junior Blake Vaughn as they tied with a 32-over 245 and a 71st place finish out of 90 golfers. Lord shot rounds of 81-81-83 while Vaughn scored rounds of 81-78-86.

Also competing for the Koalas were seniors Brandon Griffin and Jacob Fink who placed 79th and 82nd respectively. Griffin shot rounds of 85-82-83 for a 37-over 250 while Fink shot scores of 87, 78, and 90.

Truett-McConnell won the tournament with a 13-over 865. The men will next be in action on Feb. 26-27 at the CIU Spring Invitational in Columbia at the Columbia Country Club.
