Men's Golf Currently in 1st Place at the Bluefield Intercollegiate

BLUEFIELD, VA - The Columbia College men's golf team played a great first round of golf and is currently sitting in first place in the 12-team standings at the Fincastle Intercollegiate hosted by Bluefield College.

Columbia is followed by Walters State CC, Bluefield, Bluefield St., and St. Andrews in the top five. The Koalas are also sitting above AAC foes: Milligan, Johnson, and Bryan Colleges.

Leading the men individually is senior Blake Vaughn as he shot a 4-under par 66 on Monday to hold a three-shot lead over freshman teammate Thomas Campbell, who shot a 1 under 69 with two birdies and an eagle. Vaughn had six birdies in his first round. Columbia's top five men are currently sitting in the top 24 out of 66 individuals.

Freshman Jaxon Mock is the third Koala to place high as he is in 16th at 5-over 75 while sophomore Ryan Lord is in a tie for 24th with a 77. Freshman Josh Brown, currently playing as an individual, is also in a tie for 24th at 7-over 77. Finally, senior Jacob Fink is in a tie for 42nd at 10-over 80.

Round two action begins at 9:30 am Tuesday morning.
